Introduction
Title Money management app
Role Research, UX designer
Time Sep.-Dec. 2020
Client 20-45 years old
Brief/Problem. Statement
With the confirmed cases of covid-19 pandemic increasing, there’re more and more businesses are closed, people lost their jobs. Saving money would be the smartest choice to avoid this plight. But how to save it? This is always a headache to young people. Because most of the young people don’t have a habit of saving money. Therefore, guiding young people to saving money correctly and build up a good habit of saving money smartly is very important.
Survey and Challenge
i took an online survey with 10 people age ranging from 20-35. i found out that most of them are facing the same problems.
1. To help young people to build up a good habit of saving money.
2. Set up a money plan for daily life.
3. Track and analysis the young people’s expenses.
Research
I also analyzed the apps of competitors with feature matrix to find out the main focus and solution.
Persona
Based on all the research, I created a persona to help me better understand the user’s needs.
Sketches & Task Flows
based on the task flows, i created some wireframes.
Task 1: the user wants to create a monthly household budget on Oct.
Task 2: the user checks his/her spending analysis during April.
Task 3: the user checks the notification to review budget saving and rewards.
WIREFRAMES
After i finished the brainstorming and sketches, i processed my ideas into low fidelity prototype.
USABILITY TEST
Once i fulfilled the low fidelity prototype, I printed it out and asked 4 people to test it. i got lots of advice and feedback from them. for example, the reward button wasn’t noticeable, so I need to revise it.
Design System
I created a design system to use throughout the app. This helped me create designs quickly and maintain the brands aesthetic.
Final Designs
After testing the first set of redesigns, I iterated based on user feedback and created the final prototype using adobe XD. It would’ve been useful to work with a developer at this stage.
here is the prototype link:
Task 1: the user wants to create a monthly household budget on Oct.
Task 2: the user checks his/her spending analysis during April.
Task 3: the user checks the notification to review budget saving and rewards.
Conclusion
what i learned from this project is to be better understand the user’s need. the most impressive thing they said is that the app is very straightforward and easy to understand. so i think heuristic evaluation is very important in our design process.
